Skype may not be the most, um, reliable service around, but it certainly seems to be one of the more popular. The VOIP service was acquired by eBay back in 2005, and now it seems that a group of venture capital firms are now looking to buy it themselves.
Anonymous sources (is there any other kind in this business?) are reporting that old Skype investors Andreesen Horowitz, Index Ventures are looking to pick up the service from eBay, with is eager to sell. eBay is reportedly looking to sell the service for a cool $2 billion.
eBay paid $4.1 billion for the service in 2005.
